There is a small island north of the great Crete. It is known that in 1628 B.C., Thera erupted with a force not even close to the recent eruption of Mt. St. Helens. It is being preposed-that this tiny island could be the lost Atlantis. But what about size you ask?? Well Crete was a major power before before the eruprion, infact, its kingdom covered an area the size of Lybia and Asia combind! Now Thera and Crete are VERY close together, and were often mixed up. But then wouldn't it be Crete that they are talking about?? Well that is what Archoligists first thought when the first took a look at Crete. BUT, when a small group went to look at Thera, they were surprized. They had found a great palace in Crete called kinnoss. But when the dug on Thera, the first thing they found was a house just like the palace on Crete. They were very excited at this point because they thought that they had instantly found the Palace on Thera, but as they dug, they found that ALL of the home were like the palace on Crete!! Hot and cold showers, human sized storage jars, and intracate paintings. Could this Thera possibaly be the lost Atlantis??? | The Island of Thera! | ||||||||||||||||
